Email: Making hyperlinks actually work in emails

Links in emails are tricky cuz sometimes you want the recipient to be able to click the link in your message but when they receive the message half the URL is blue and clickable but half isn’t! What gives?! Here’s a trick: put a long URL string in between the greater-than/less-than signs “< >” like so:

email link1

The other quick little pointer i’d like to show you is specific to Apple Mail. You can add a link to your messages in the same way that web pages display links. Like so:

email_link2

The way this works is to type out your message, then go back and highlight the words that you’d like to be clickable. Now, with the words still selected go up to the Edit menu at top and choose Add Hyperlink…

A window will slide down in your message (see above image) and you can type or copy and paste any web address into that box. Click OK or hit Enter. There you go! Two handy ways to spice up your email-fu and make your emails more accessible. Use them well.
